Good places to eat
Some allergy friendly food places.

Food allergies can make eating out a bit problematic to say the least!

Here are some allergy friendly places I've come across on my travels. (the list will be updated when more places are found!)

England

London:

Franco Manca, throughout London:

I walked past this place purely by accident but in doing so found a hidden (and affordable) gem amongst London's Italian restaurants. With pizzas ranging from the traditional to the more eccentric and many other dishes besides, there's something for everyone.

Address (Belsize Park branch):

216 Haverstock Hill,

London,

NW3 2AE

Vapiano, Great Portland Street:

A surprise find of affordable food a stone's throw away from one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world. The pasta is all vegan and there are many different toppings to choose from. Excellent flavours at reasonable prices are the dish of the day here!

Address:

19-21 Great Portland Street,

London,

W1W 8QB

Midlands:

Rising Cafe, Coventry:
Having started up a few years ago, the Rising Cafe has quickly become a
favourite among Coventry locals and visitors to the city. Not only can you enjoy the food in a relaxed atmosphere, but the staff are lovely and friendly too. Allergy-wise they have always been excellent, always willing to do their best to accommodate for dietary requirements.

Address:

Coventry Cathedral,

Priory Street,

Coventry,

CV1 5FB

Scotland:

Totally Vegan, Coventry:

Originally housed in a tiny shipping container, this place has now reopened in its own store premises. As the name suggests, it's a vegan cafe which sells a wide range of different animal-product free foods. In particular the cakes are very good and a relief for me as normally cake is out of bounds! Chez Jules, Edinburgh:

This place was recommended to me by a friend from the city as a must-visit. Once inside you're treated to the best French cuisine I've ever tasted on this side of the channel. The waiting staff are friendly and happy to check for any adjustments you need. A recommendation here is the Rabbit stew but all the dishes sounded amazing.

National chains:

Wahaca, various UK locations:

I visited the branch near St Paul's Cathedral in London recently and was amazed, not only by the choice on offer for most dietary requirements but also by the extensive allergen menu. Update: Their Edinburgh branch is also very good at dealing with allergies. Highly recommend a visit.

Dishoom, various UK locations:

Their Edinburgh branch was just by my hotel and so we visited out of curiosity and left there die-hard fans of the place. Beautiful fragrant cuisine mixed with a lovely atmosphere. Recommended is the jackfruit biryani, one bite and you won't miss chicken again.
