Possibly one of my favourite parts of Eastern Asian cuisine is the noodle, tasty and filling it is the perfect accompaniment to the rich broths of that part of the world. So when I find a noodle place upstairs in the Wholefoods market I made a beeline straight for it. The staff were lovely and welcoming, sorting out my allergy requirements and checking the menu for me. So far so good, but this would prove to be an interesting evening in many senses of the word.

After much deliberation I went for the Pork Tonkotsu as it's a dish I've had before. Once again they were great with the allergies, removing the traditional egg and checking the other ingredients for me.

The dish tasted great, the pork was really nice and it just melted in the mouth. The vegetables were really tasty and the broth tasted good as well. The quantity of food I got for the price was also very good as after a while I was struggling to finish the dish.
Another noteworthy thing was the excellent teas. On a family holiday to Malaysia I tried the most beautiful Jasmine tea and since then I've never tasted a tea like it. But drinking the tea in that restaurant took me right back to Kuala Lumpur. Free refills were also an excellent idea as the tea was so nice!
However, there were some things I didn't consider good about the dish. Firstly, one of the vegetables was so tough it was like eating one of the wooden chopsticks and the broth itself had a weird almost creamy texture rather. Also, and possibly more importantly, I found a feather in my food. Now this was a pork dish so it definitely was out of place because as per the old joke, pigs can't fly.
Now due to the nature of the issue, I let the staff know immediately and to their credit they did immediately remove my plate and notify all the staff. The manager then came out and apologised profusely and discounted my bill. In addition to this I was offered a complimentary cup of Genmaicha tea which tastes like popcorn, a lovely gesture.
So all in all, not my best ever restaurant trip. Whilst the food was mostly good, there were some big mistakes. I would go back, but for the tea.
